thunderbolt 05:22
with a storm rolling in an old car moving fast against the wind she pulled off the highway to gather firewood with a rush and a rage with a force she was thrown across the stage and the big tree was blown to smithereens and she cried out as if from another dream there's so little time it'll pass in the blink of an eye like a thunderbolt (let go...) splitting the sky (...the illusion) I will be reborn well the smoke had barely cleared from her ringing ears when he found her and helped her get her feet back on the ground the charred remainders still smoldering, crackling, all around they were moved by the sound of the rain, the coming storm the herald of thunder like a battle horn oh, what to do when it's calling you, calling you time it'll pass in the blink of an eye like a thunderbolt (let go...) splitting the sky (...the illusion) I will be reborn if you only had one life to live, what would you do about it? if you only had one life to live, how could you go on without it? they had to return to the scene of the trial that was laid to them infectious illumination taking root within chased by the light to where the sparks fade to stillness and then to fight through the illness that ensued blessed with the boon of a new form of life imbued on the wing of a charge that was tingling and flowing through the threshold is harshest when it's calling you, calling you time it'll pass in the blink of an eye like a thunderbolt (let go...) splitting the sky (...the illusion) I will be reborn if you only had one life to live, what would you do about it? if you only had one life to live, how could you go on without it?

spook 02:22
look out for the spook muscling around one thing on the mind to run the ship aground the spook keeping you drugged to believe it and go along see the shadows move all in your mind back at the hideout listen for a sound someone's got the mind to dim the light around the spook it's all in the way that you hear it and hum along see the shadows move all in your mind hope you got a tap code walls are all around if only we'd the mind to tear 'em all down spook you gotta be free to believe it and play along see the shadows move all in your mind

closer 03:27
it was late in the day in the grasslands we went back, we went back through the woods to the water's edge you told me to look through the glass that was left there and I could see eyes on an island there you were lost and scared in another time and that was the place where you crossed the beast a shadow ahead almost too dark to see out there alone, on your way home, so unnatural I cannot say don't be afraid but if you don't turn away you'll be closer dead set in a cold sweat always braced for the next threat can't get closer as your heart raced to leap from your chest maybe your mettle was put to the test out there alone, on your way home, it's only natural I cannot say don't be afraid but if you don't turn away you'll be closer dead set in a cold sweat always braced for the next threat can't get closer

mother mary 02:16
from somewhere some prison in the dirt my lonely skeleton pretends that it's not hurt it wraps itself in fur the moment of the birth in hopes a heart will stir and come crashing down to earth storm's on the horizon rocks beneath the waves dark clouds rolling thunder there was nothing we could save apocalyptic moon mother mary just shove me in the ground one foot in the grave I will barely make a sound mother mary we've nowhere left to go we will fade into the drift like a quiet falling snow

powerlines 03:36
I'll follow you out to the park at dusk knee deep in snow, imagine us in the old neighborhood in a past life the ghosts of our homes are painted white sunset glaze will fade to night branches bent and sparking blue it's a brief world we're falling through on our backs under swaying limbs icicles and dead hymns whispering in our ears blowing in the clear air the footprints that lead out to the middle of nowhere and disappear it takes time to find out what's keeping you here in the power lines lost souls concrete bottle's empty I know defeat I know nothing in the power lines

black cloud 03:20
a flurry of dead leaves rattles and heaves up against a sandstone column rutted in the district for the autumn it seems to follow everywhere I go I got this black cloud and around and around and around and around it seems to follow everywhere I go I got this black cloud for the drive back alongside train all lit up in orange in the sideways rain the sunset reflecting in your mind's eye they keep the pond dark with black dye it seems to follow everywhere I go I got this black cloud and around and around and around and around it seems to follow everywhere I go I got this black cloud and around and around and around and around it seems to follow everywhere I go I got this black cloud blocking out the glow it seems to follow everywhere I go but you never know, you never know

hours later 05:12
the blinds are down, it's one or two the afternoon will beat on through the lazy boy, the living room sunlit cinders hanging 'round a tomb then I felt myself collapse I became only dust I was carried, I was laid out I was buried in the fade out disconnected, off the loop crumpled on the front porch stoop you came outside to find me there a cup of tea, a breath of air you ran your fingers through my hair there is no reason why to care we were just crushed beneath the open blue I'm so alone I'm here with you then I felt myself collapse I became only dust I was carried, I was laid out I was buried in the fade out *** swimming up the sheets up through quicksand howl of the harsh wind tossed you around wrestling the pillow sound of some beast scratching at the window calling us to look out skeleton branches silhouetted catch the setting sun hours later catch the setting sun oh, where did the time go? our promised time go... asleep
